Celebrate the Century Post Office Car

The complete restoration of a piece of history is wonderful to see when it can be shown to the country as this one was. Historic drawings made this interactive showpiece a reality while teaching a younger generation one way the mail used to be delivered.

Pioneer Zephyr

This historic restoration circa 1934, for the world renowned Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, spanned almost three years in research and rebuild time. The meticulous process included creating all new interiors to reflect the original train's finishes, colors and materials. Custom upholstery fabric for seating and window shades was commissioned to help visitors appreciate the car's original appearance. Audio visual equipment was hidden within the interior to conceal animatronic controls as well as lighting and other special effects. The stainless steel exterior was entirely polished and the undercarriage and trucks were aesthetically restored. The movement of the final product was coordinated with the museum by highway and then by craning down the consist into their 4-story deep Great Hall. Finally, a car "rocker" was engineered and fabricated to give the railcars realistic movement for their exhibit within.
